Basic Principles of Rehabilitation
Opossums are Different!

Body Temperature - 95 degrees - Maintain external nest heat at 95 degrees till approx. 80 to 90 grams (3 ounces) or larger.
Maintain humidity at 70%
Weigh often - baby is in trouble if not gaining weight
Pure Lactated Ringers given orally is too strong - dilute 1:1 with distilled water
No extra protein until over 1 pound (see N.O.S. feeding charts)
No extra vitamins (unless prescribed by veterinarian for specific deficiencies)
Be sparing with sources of Vitamin A (liver, mackerel, leafy green and orange vegetables)
